Urid flour, also known as urad flour, is made from ground beans. The ancient bean has been cultivated on the Indian subcontinent for 3,000 to 4,000 years and is now widespread throughout South and Southeast Asia. A wide variety of Indian sweets and snacks such as Laddu, Halwa or Burfi can be prepared with this type of flour. Urid flour is also ideal as a sauce thickener or as an ingredient for Roti, Chapati, Dosa or Pakora.
